PROFILE

Ingrid has 18 years of experience of telling stories in the local, African wide & international tv industry. She has worked for the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SA), Camerapix (Kenya), Multimesh (Nigeria), African Management Services Company (continent wide) and Al Jazeera English (global). She has delivered content to many clients such as M-Net, BBC, CNN, Voice of America, Alter Greek TV, German TV, Summit TV, Ochre Media, United Nations University of Peace (UPEACE), Input TV, International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) & SA Correctional Services.

She received the CNN Africa Journalist Award for her story on Virginity Testing in KZN. As an independent filmmaker, her current film Africa Shafted: under one roof, has been selected for festivals around the world & continues to travel with great success as it stimulates debate around being African and our common humanity. It won the most original documentary jury award in Mexico, testimony to the originality that drives I’M Original Productions. Africa Shafted also received a special jury mention at the 2013 Africa International Film Festival in December. It was presented as apart of her TedX Johannesburg talk in 2014.

Ingrid has held the position of reporter, director, executive producer, specialist correspondent, bureau chief, head of content & acting COO. The latter was for a pay-tv company in Nigeria. She managed & wrote the strategy & operational guides for their transition from a cable to a satellite operator, a potential future competitor to DSTV West Africa. During her 3 years with the company she attended international markets like MipTV in Cannes & bought more than 40 channels & continued to manage relationships with global players like Discovery, KidsTV, Al Jazeera, BBC, MGM to name a few. She was also a member of the initial SABC 24 hour news channel task team.

Ingrid is also dedicated to sharing what she has learnt & has designed, run & trained youth & professionals in content creation & practices. Her philosophy is that it is not only about training, but rather engaging in a two way learning process, that inspires & empowers.

Ingrid holds an honours & masters degree in Culture & Media Studies & has done numerous courses around the world, such as journalism in the US at CNN International Professional Programme for Journalists, documentary in Poland at the Film Farm where her short film, "Differences" was selected to play at the 4th Poland Film Festival & leadership at Lagos Business School. She graduated with distinctions from the first year intake of the Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute and is a fellow in the first intake of the African Leadership Initiative (ALI) Bloomberg Media Fellowship.

As a passionately African adventurer, Ingrid has worked in &/or covered more than 20 countries on the continent & has lived in Nigeria & spent an extensive period in Kenya. Her current focus is buidling I'M Original as a platform for collaborative genius that will push the limits & think out of the box. She also continues to be a dedicated & passionate creative strategist & storyteller that is always in search of projects that are original, authentic, inspirational & that matter.
